Established Party Candidates

Petition packets for candidates that file with the County Clerk’s office are now available for Established Political Parties

County Candidates

Precinct Committeeman Candidate

All petitions filed by persons waiting in line at the office of the County Clerk as of 8:00 a.m. on the first day for filing, November 25, 2013, shall be considered as having been simultaneously filed. Petitions, filed by mail, which are received in the office of the County Clerk in the first mail delivery or pickup on the first day of filing shall be considered as having been simultaneously filed as of 8:00 a.m. All petitions received thereafter shall be considered as having been filed in the order of actual receipt except petitions filed within the last hour on December 2, 2013 will also be considered simultaneously filed. Whenever two or more petitions are simultaneously filed for the same office, by candidates of the same party or independent candidates, the County Clerk shall break ties and determine the order of filing by means of a lottery.

The office hours for filing petitions are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 25th through Wednesday, November 27th , 2013. The office will be closed November 28th and 29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. On Monday, December 2, 2013, the last day for filing petitions, the office will be open until 5:00 p.m. naturally, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the County Clerk’s Office.

PETITIONS RECEIVED PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 25, 2013 CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AND WILL BE RETURNED.


Independent, New Party and Non-Partisan Candidates

JUNE 23, 2014 – Last day to file petitions in the office of the County Clerk

All petitions filed by persons waiting in line at the office of the County Clerk as of 8:00 a.m. on the first day for filing, June 16, 2014, shall be considered as having been simultaneously filed. Petitions, filed by mail, which are received in the office of the County Clerk in the first mail delivery or pickup on the first day of filing shall be considered as having been simultaneously filed as of 8:00 a.m. All petitions received thereafter shall be considered as having been filed in the order of actual receipt except petitions filed within the last hour on June 23, 2014 will also be considered simultaneously filed. Whenever two or more petitions are simultaneously filed for the same office, the County Clerk shall break ties and determine the order of filing by means of a lottery.

The office hours for filing petitions are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Monday, June 23, 2014, the last day for filing petitions, the office will be open until 5:00 p.m. naturally, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the County Clerk’s Office.

PETITIONS RECEIVED PRIOR TO JUNE 16, 2014 CANNOT BE ACCEPTED AND WILL BE RETURNED.


Write-In Candidates

To become a write-in candidate, you must file a “Declaration of Intent to be a Write-In” form with the County Clerk at least 61 days prior to an election.

If an objection to a candidate’s nominating papers or petitions for an office is sustained after the 61st day before the election, he or she can file a notarized declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate for that office with the County Clerk no later than 7 days prior to the election.

Write-in votes for candidates who file this form will be counted.

Pollwatchers

To be a pollwatcher you must:

  • be registered to vote in Illinois
  • have valid credentials from the Williamson County Clerk’s Office
  • have separate credentials issued for each voting site selected to observe
  • Pollwatchers are required to surrender their credentials at the polls and sign the Pollwatcher Register.
