The Circuit Clerk produces an annual Unclaimed Property List which includes funds from uncashed bond refunds, uncashed restitution checks, etc. If these funds are not claimed, the Circuit Clerk will turn funds over to the IL State Treasurer as required by statute. If your name appears on the Unclaimed Property List, please call (618) 997-1301 and ask for more information regarding unclaimed property.
After unclaimed funds have been turned over to the Illinois State Treasurer, the State holds the funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs.
